I'd suggest reinstalling the game.

right click on the bf3 icon in the game loader and click repair install... if it dooes the same then i would think that your gfx isnt up to it even if you have an i3 vaio.
you need a minimum of a 440m to play on a lappy. my guess is your not up to minimum spec...
