Programs close when I attempt to print

Hi, I'm an IT Support Specialist, and I've been troubleshooting a printing
problem for an employee. Whenever we attempt to print or print preview from
any program (ex. IE, OE, Word etc) the program does a standard error message
( "[program] has encounted a problem and needs to close..") I tried going to
the properties of the printer itself but I get the following error message
when I attempt to do so:

"The function address 0x77c46fa3 caused a protection fault. (exception code
0xc0000005). Some or all property page(s) might not be displayed"

Virus definitions were up to date, and detected no viruses, Same with
spyware. I've tried removing and adding the printer, same problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Since this is the HP 4300 or 4600, or is it. If you have a recent HP driver
I can assist. If it's another printer please indicate.

When opening the printer properties in the explorer.exe process the driver
plugin UI is hitting a load failure. I am assuming this is what causes the
applications to AV and close.

Hi Alan,
It's a Toshiba E-Studio 28. I'm not too familiar with this particular
make/model, to be honest. But I believe it's a photocopier/printer.

Thanks

do you know which controller you have? I assume the client is XP is there a
Service Pack installed or it just happens with everyone.

To find a driver, select a business imaging device.
You will be forwarded to that product's driver download page
automatically.

e-STUDIO28 Software Drivers > select oneGA-1040 GL-1010v1-x GL-1010v2

The e-STUDIO28, e-STUDIO35 and e-STUDIO45 can use either the GL-1010
controller or the GA-1040 controller.

To choose the right driver for your model:

This family of machines can use a GL-1010 or a GA-1040 controller. The
GL-1010 controller is a tower computer system mounted on the rear side of
the copier. The GA-1040 embedded controller is installed inside the copier.
If your network connection plugs into a box on the rear of the copier, you
have a GL-1010. Print a configuration sheet ([Printer/Network] ~ Test Pages
~ Config Page) and check the software version to determine if you have a
v1.x or v2 controller.

If there is no computer on the back of the copier, and the network (or
parallel) cable plugs into a plate flush with the copier left side, then you
have a GA-1040 embedded controller. Select the controller installed on your
copier.
