OK I was in the process of reformatting my computer with the recovery cd's.
I was half way through the first one. Now my cd rom drive is shot. I try to
start my computer but its saying operating system not found. What can I do??
I do have a USB cd-rom drive if that's any help. Right now my laptop is just
a big paperweight. I also tried pressing f-8 but no luck. Thank you all very
much!!

Just a thought but CD drives are dirt cheap. Why not pick up another and
replace your bad drive. I am sure it won't set you back more that about
$15-20. Even if you had managed to install the OS and then the drive died,
you are sure to need a CD drive for something soon.
