More about blocking
  1. Is this your home PC or a company one?
  2. Is the OS yours or a company deployment?
  3. You have to right click on cmd and run as a admin.
But if your talking about a computer at work, it would of been disabled by the Admin for security reasons .
  4. my home pc!!! is it some virus???

  6. Here's our problem - a normal build of Windows would not result in a group policy being set that blocks cmd.

So, we suspect this is not a normal build - someone else set the policy.

We're not sure you really have the authority to make the change, and so are reluctant to help.

You may get quicker results googling or asking for help elsewhere.

it was a free upgrade from dell for my studio 15. i suspect its a virus from maybe torrents or direct downloads
  8. Then you should run a virus cleaner, or re-install the OS. If you re-install the OS and have more than one HD, do not connect the other HD(s) until you have an anti-virus prog installed on your C drive.
  9. If the registry is blocked as well then its a virus. Try running AVG or Avira and see if you can't clear it up.
  10. planning to reinstall the virus, mcafee doesnt show any virus

I'm sure you don't want to re-install the virus lol. Anyhow, you might try the approach suggested here:
