Well right now I have a Volcano 6+ vacuum cleaner sounding thing that I hate. I was wonder what fans were out there that work well, are quiet, and don't cost a whole lot? thanks!

get a panaflo fan.. they're pretty good. i have an 80 mm that moves 39.6 CFMs of air at only 30 dB. <A HREF="http://www.Coolcases.com" target="_new">http://www.Coolcases.com</A> sells fans at a really good price.

Go <A HREF="http://www.coolcases.com/storefront.html" target="_new">here.</A>

<b>Mnx4</b> has a good idea, though he might have been thinking about the Volcano 7. Your Volcano 6+ has a 60mm fan on it, while the 7 comes with an adapter and has an 80mm fan.

Or maybe he was just thinking about the fan adaptor. You can make your 6+ like a 7 by using an <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?description=35-999-209" target="_new">Aluminum Fan Adaptor</A>, or even a <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?description=35-999-206" target="_new">plastic one</A>. Both are made by <A HREF="http://www.akasa.com.tw/" target="_new">AKASA</A>. They have more designs on their website, so check them out.

If you do this, you will achieve a good airflow at a lower sound level.

Hope this helps.

Or you can use two sets of screws and a grill to attach a larger fan. All will work.

Link for <A HREF="http://www.2cooltek.com/retro.html" target="_new">retrofitting a fan</A>

BTW, mine's been running just fine with that quieter fan. But, I have some fans ordered Wednesday that are 21dBA, which should be here by Thursday, I think.

Dude, these were on a Wednesday sale only, but I guess they're on sale again for $3.25:

Are there any bigger, quieter fan replacements that also have the status lead on them? (the third wire leading to the cpufan plug on the mobo).

I'm not sure on the technology of this. Maybe Bum JC_Rules can answer this one...
