Would this PC be good for gaming?

I'm planning on getting myself a brand new PC soon, since I'm currently using a really crappy HP Pavilion tx2000 notebook. It's really slow and overheats quickly, trust me.

Anyways, I've been picking out parts for a new PC (On a budget!) and I'd like to know what do you think, and if you believe it could run games like Skyrim, Assassin's Creed III and similar things.

CPU: Intel Core i5 650 3.2Ghz 4MB Cache Tray OR Intel Ivy Bridge Core i5 3570 Socket 1155 6MB 3.4Ghz Tray
GFX: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 550 Ti Overclock OR Sapphire 7770 1GB GDDR5 PC EDITION
8GB RAM

I'm also open for suggestions!
Nothing too big and expensive though, I'm not /that/ big of a gamer. Especially now that I'm really stressed out with school and work. :c

Thank you in advance!

The only game I can think of where an i3 2120 will hold back a 7870 more than a tiny bit is battlefield 3 on large multiplayer maps and even then I am not sure if the i5 with a 7770 will run better (I suspect not). Though many games can now use 4 cores I don't think theres any that need it (except BF3 on large multilayer maps) while they can all use better graphics cards. On the flip side the graphics card is easier to upgrade in future.
Why would you get a 1st generation i5 with a new PC when 3rd generation is out now. A 550Ti is a good entry level card but is rarely good value compared to others so unless you are getting it much cheaper than it usually is don't get it, Redeom 6850s & 6870s (alot better) are selling very cheap in the UK at the moment. If you let us know your budget and what country you are buying in you will get better recommendations.

wAAAIT, editing the message because I had a brain fart when I typed it.
I'm from Israel, so converting my currency to USD would be about $940 or 595 pounds. I'm willing to go a bit off limit, though!

Also, what do you mean 3rd gen? I'm sorry haha, It's my first time picking my own parts for a PC.

Forgot to answer the 3rd generation bit, 1st generation core i series had 3 numbers in the model and are quite dated now, second generation (known as sandy bridge) had 4 numbers starting with a 2 ie i3 2100 & i5 2500, the newer 3rd generation (known as ivy bridge) are currently only released in i5 and i7 have 4 number starting with a 3 ie i5 3570.

You're right! Hmm, but will a dual core actually be enough?

Hmmm, I'm not planning on playing BF3, but I'll take this in mind! :D
Thank you so much for the tips, I'll keep asking around and researching before I buy the parts. ^_^
