As a frequent visitor of the community I think that I should wran you of the pc1066 scams going around. Many of the ram being directly sold as Samsung is just overclocked. The ram I got was suppose to be pc1066, but what I got is overclocked pc800 40ns sold as pc1066 without any notice. The problem is the fact that they covered up the serial number with a white sticker saying that it was from Memory Direct and it was a Rimm 256 1066. On further investigation, I looked at the label under a certain angle of light and saw the remaining serial number. With confirmation from samsung.com website I found the ram is actually the 40ns pc800 ram (MD16R1628AF0-CM 800 - 40). What is despicable is that they had the audacity to put on the cheap white sticker that said it would be "Void if Removed", thus removing all suspicions to the average user. I hope that you all will be careful in what you buy. These people are good and if your not careful you can be swindled by the dealer.
P.S. Never trust the phone workers at those websites for they usually know nothing about the product and can easily give you wrong or misleading information, which happened to me.

Thanks for the heads up, you sending it back? I'd contact the BBB, too.

I'm sending it back and considering to buy some mushkin when they come in stock next week (hopefully). From what I heard, they are Samsungs under their name and guaranty. I hope this works out.

From what I see all # ending in cm8 are really pc800. Also Fatburger the site that you showed to buy the new pc1066 32 bit ram on the memory section is the place I bought my crappy PC1066 ram.

I just bought some mushkin and they are defective. Apparently Samsung sent out a ton of Rambus ram that doesn't have the second notch punched out so that it can be placed in the slots. Let's hope the third try will work.

I reported this as well when I saw vendors pushing PC800-40 as PC1066

There is also another problem with DDR, vendors are reprogramming the SPD on PC2100 as PC2700 and calling it "push" ram.

www.lifetimememory.com is a vendor who does this, as I was testing memory in my IT7 one of my sticks popped up as PC2100, I was puzzled and called them on it. This to me is consumer fraud.

This is fraud, and it's illegal. If this is a company in the USA, what you should do is contact their local law enforcement agency with the particulars - they may wish to investigate. And if they shipped this via the US postal service - that also makes it mail fraud. And the postal service WILL go after them. You'd be amazed at how eager companies are to straighten things out when they get contacted by the regional postmaster inquiring about possible mail fraud. ;)

Sadly the ram was sent via fedex, but returned via usps. I did email samsung and didn't hear anything yet. I did though take pictures so I have some evidence, but I'm probably not going to go much farther because in the end it will be a lot of work for just for a thank you. Even if it was a big thank you it just might be as likely a beurocrat that says "We will look into it" and nothing happens.
