Does anyone have any advice on the above values in key
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\Standard TCP/IP
Port\Ports?

We have a large number (over 7000) Windows XP workstations and are
concerned about a 10 second polling interval (The default). Should
this be increased in an enterprise environment to decrease network
traffic?

Thanks,

Richard Lamb

The default is 10 minutes.

Are all your 7000 clients connecting directly to the printers? If your
clients connect to the printer through a server this setting is not
relevant.

They should all be accessing them via Print Servers so you have
answered my question. Our concern is users that roam around collecting
printers as they go and then have their performance affected by the OS
checking the status of remote printers but if this doesn't happen with
Print Servers (our printers are installed on DC's!) in between then we
can forget that.

Thanks,

Richard
