Games on max settings

if i can run a game on high settings and and it runs fairly smoothly is my laptop safe? and by safe i mean frying the video card or cpu

As long as it's not getting too hot or making weird sounds. If it sounds like it's struggling, then you might want to turn some settings down.
 
You're fine. Playing on high settings is not taxing it more. It will always try its best to give you best frames per second it can possibly handle, and it doesn't change when you change graphics. The only thing that changes is the number of FPS.
 


except if you turn the settings low enough with v-synch on so that the limit is always being hit, then the gpu will be working below its max, but otherwise yes you are correct
