Hello. I recently installed a new driver update for my GPU, claiming it would increase the game's performance significantly. I already had it running decently smooth at high graphics settings. The game experienced extreme lag after this update and now the game cannot run. Since then I have removed all mods just to be sure, reinstalled, deleted, re-downloaded, and anything else I can think of. What happened?!
I updated to the 301.42 driver for my Nvidia Geforce GTS 450.
I am using a AMD II X6 processor.
I have 4GB of RAM.
I run the game off of the same hard drive I have been using all along with no problem.
I am honestly stumped as to how to correct whatever the problem is. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

UPDATE: Other games are experiencing lag as well.
