Now for on the second computer we are having problems with a laserjet 5
driver for a networked laserjet 5 printer. We are getting Event ID 45
"Document failed to print due to GDI/Driver error in rendering" errors. I
initially was usinga native xp laserjet 5 driver and then downloaded and
installed a hp updated laserjet 5 driver and the same problems occured. We
get a spool error that basically crashes the machine and we have to reboot
the xp box to get printing to work again. There are two or three other
printers installed that never give the same hassles at all. We finally
removed the laserjet 5 driver and everything has been fine. How do I get
this driver to work with xp? This is the second computer that has displayed
this behavior. The laserjet does have a jetdirect card.

disable EMF printing which will force GDI rendering on the client machines
rather than the server.

Printer Properties / Advanced / uncheck Enable advanced printing features.
