I have a pt-5it mboard and a cyrix 333 cpu,the problem is that the official settings for the board dont let the thing go faster than 233mhz. I wanna get this thing to go faster! any help out there?

Who the heck makes the thing?

Well, do you have bus speed adjustment above 66MHz?

I remember the Cyrix 333 ran at a lower speed than it's rating, wasn't it supposed to 233 to begin with?

I looked up some info "The backside bus for the 333-PR chip will run at 83.3, and the chip will run at 250 MHz. The 300-PR will feature a 75 MHz backside bus with a 225 MHz clock speed." So in other words, you can use the 3.0x multiplier with the 83.3MHz bus speed to get 250, the proper speed for your CPU. If you don't have 83.3, you could try 75MHz x 3.5 for 262MHz, a slight overclock. If you don't have that, use the 233 setting, it's close enough to the 250MHz your CPU is supposed to run at.

If you want fast, you can try a K6-2, the 2x setting is interpreted as 6x by that processor, giving you 400MHz at the 66MHz bus, 450 at 75, or 500 at 83.3.

The Cyrix CPU was a notoriosly bad overclocker. If you want more specific information, at least give me the brand of board.

allright.
the board is made by azza, the cyrix chip used to run,not overclocked at 333mhz in another system(that board died),what i need is the jumpers(numbers and configerations) to overclock this board.i know i need to up the bus speed,i just dont know how.

Whhe the computer is booting press the pause key. Write down the numbers and letters you see in the bottom left hand side of the screen. This is the bios ID.

Post that up and it will tell us what board you have. Then we can go from there.

Press enter to continue booting.

The closest to the 5x multiplier I can find on their site is the 4.5x multiplier for 300MHz, and that relys on your board being revision 2.0 or higher. Let me know the board revision you have, and I'll try to put the puzzle together for you.

O.K.Thanx so far, heres what i got..
At the top (and both of these are case correct)
12/04/97 W83977TF for PT-5IT
At the bottom
11/18/97-i430TX-2A59Ip89c-00
note, all the 0's are zeros
thanking you for your patience

What board revision? There should be something on the board that says it, like R1.0, 2.0, 2.2, etc.
