So I have an Acer monitor ( S230 HL) with only VGA and DVI, a ps3, and a laptop. I was wondering if there was a way I can make my laptop play the sound for when I hook up my ps3 to my monitor. Can anyone help? The sound is all im having a problem with.

the only thing i can think of is if you are using analog for the audio you can plug it in to a red/white to analog 3.5mm then plug it in to the mic port, you would need a program to play back the audio while it receives it.

probably best to just get some cheap speakers and skip the whole laptop idea.

You don't need to get a program for audio on the laptop - there is windows function for that.

Anyway, connect PS3 sound port to laptop microphone port, and in control panel -> sound -> recording -> properties -> listen tab check the "Listen to this device" check box.
