Gtx680 Skyrim defaulting to 1280*720??

I dont understand why but my Asus GTX680 card destroys games, but skyrim keeps defaulting to 1280*720 when i click default settings even though my tv is 1920*1080 native. I have updated the drivers and its still doing this. I can change it to 1920*1080 but it still doesnt default to that value. WItcher 2 and every other game i play when i click default settings it picks ultra and 1920*1080. But skyrim defaults to ultra and 1280. WHy is this happening??

could just be the way it is coded perhapes, dunno, never played skyrim on my TV yet. so if you set it manually does it stay 1080 when you exit the game and start it again?
