fan size for CPU HSF

Kind of a dumb question, but I wanted to replace the fan on my CPU heatsink. Why buy a whole new thing when all I need is a new quieter fan, but I"m unsure of their size, I'm guessing 4cm (40mm) - or maybe 60mm? Let me know please, thanks.

Actually no, it's the stock fan with a retail athon XP 1800+. I just need something quiet since I replaced all my other fans with panaflo's and the case is almost as quiet as I want it, but I can tell from listening closely the CPU fan is the loudest thing in my case. Thanks again.

The retail is a 60mm. You can put an 80mm on the HS with an adapter and it would be quiter than the 60.
