I have a hp deskjet 990c but no user manual. When i print the writing does
not align properly with the paper. ie. the margin is bigger towards the
bottom of the paper. any ideas?

I don't use an HP printer but I'd guess that you have the wrong paper size
in the settings...??

Click on this link..

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/ [...] 25303.html

When opened, select 'Technical Support'..

Now select which 990C printer you have..

Look at the left side of the page, and you will see items listed under 'HP
Customer Care'.. one of those items is MANUALS..

The manual that you are about to download will have instruction on how to
clear the paper path, cleaning the feed rollers, and a whole lot more..

Good luck..
