I have an AthlonXP 1900+
cooling this i have a CoolerMaster HHC-002 pure copper HSF.
I think it uses the Delta 60x60 37.6CFM @ 46 dBA fan. I don't want to have this amount of noise 46 dBA!!!, but i don't want to reduce cooling power.
My motherboard will not fit a 80x80 heatsink, so perhaps i can gain extra quietness and cooling by fitting a 60 --> 80 fan adapter to the Heatsink and fitting a 80mm fan that pushes the same amount of air, but with quieter results.
for example i've found a 80x80 Pabst fan that does
40.6 CFM @ 32 dBA.
Now is using a fan adapter going to effect the ability of a fan to cool the heatsink? after all the fan will be further away from the heatsink.
let me know if you've had experience of doing this.
