So, what kinda music does everyone like?

I have varied tastes, but my favourite music is metal.
I'm in a metal band. I play drums. I get blisters on my fingers. From playing drums. Yes of course they're from playing drums. Honest.

Polka is good too, but I can´t dance as good to it as I can with country music...maybe I just need more practice.

Mostly Hip-Hop, R&B and classic rock, just about anything but country or some of that speed metal stuff where the guy gets on the microphone and screams the whole time.

OK, I can <font color=red>NOT</font color=red> believe that my favorite AC/DC tune is the ONLY one svol has listed. I'm shocked, depressed, amazed, and impressed all at the same time. At least it's not the version from the Live double album, which is 5 times as good.

Svol, I'm impressed you have some Ozzy and a few other choice selections on there, too. Wasn't expecting that. Well done. (but get some more AC/DC)

I like Rush, Tool, early Genesis--almost any band with an awesome drummer. Drums are da' bomb! I also like Pink Floyd (a LOT), early Van Halen, Led Zeppelin (John Bonham's loosey-goosey drums rawk), Judas Priest, Queensryche--you know; rock bands with real talented individuals.

My only problem with AC/DC is they got to the point where all there stuff sounded like...well...all their other stuff. A lot of bands fell into that same pattern--Def Leppard, Poison (who had maybe two good songs, IMO) even Metallica who used to just rock is now starting to sound played out.

While we're at it, we should discuss what kind of music makes you gag. To me, the slick-big-studio marketed rock bands from the eighties and nineties make me want to puke. I'll name one in particular for starters--White Lion.

Metallica used to rule until the black album, then they went and very conveniently denied their own roots in thrash metal. Tossers. Now they are just 2 bit band murdering other peoples tunes as opposed to the 80's when they kicked ass on covers.

Cock-rockers are the anti-christ. I mean, who wants to hear how many chicks they (wish they had) shagged while snorting coke. Sad, but the most politically and socially conscious music was thrash and death metal, and 80's rap. Now it's gone all RnB shite. Load of bollocks. Very few bands with an edge these days, and that's what I look for.

That last band that really stunned me and blew me away were the Queens Of The Stone Age. Now they rule.

I like QOTSA 's sound too..a bit different, they have a great drummer.

I heard something rockin today... Lunchtime recital!

Today it was the monash university student chior and they ROCKED. they did orchestral pieces all the way from 16th century religious to a lord of the rings elvish song to a zulu chant.
And their voices... especially the female soloists *WOW*
They serious make brittney and christina sound like strangled chickens.

It was really really good.
Since discovering online music its rare for me to buy a cd... but this was so good i wanna buy a cd of thier stuff even though they dont even have one yet!

Wow I didn't expect to get this many replies on this thread. I haven't checked it for a few days. I'm going to rive on a bit cos I got to work early and I have nothing to do. I love Tool, but they're more the sort of band you sit and listen to when you're stoned as opposed to jumping round a mosh pit. They're very technical and precise, they have an amazing musical talent but it's very surreal and hearing them live isn't quite the same as on record. I don't really like AC/DC that much (although I like a few of their tunes) but my claim to fame is that I live about 3 miles from where the current singer from AC/DC lived before he was recruited by the band. (That's Pegswood, for all you other Brits). Drums rule. I had a great practise with the band at the weekend. We're recording our next CD in a few weeks (this one'll have 16 tracks!) and doing a gig at the Time Out Bar in Blyth in a few weeks. Any of you guys wanna come along and mosh your tits off to us? When I get the exact date for the gig I'll post it. Are there any other Geordies in this forum by the way?
