I picked up some extra fans for my new system (a system can't be TOO cool!). The original 2 back fans blow out from the case (exhaust fans).

I'm wondering if it would be best to install the two front fans I bought as intake (blowing into the case) or exhaust (blowing out of the case) fans?

Thanks guys!

Front fans usually are intakes if they are installed down low and the rear fans are exhaust. This allows fresh cooler air to enter low as the heat rises the rear fans will extract it, that’s the basics anyway.

That is the best way.

Ok I am getting tired of ppl giving out info that really dont help out. Ok heat rises and ideally u want the cool air to hit your mb and CPU. So with that a 120mm Panaflo fan on front/top of case will effectively cool the case. Also having back fans will in turn suck out valuable cool air that the CPU needs therefore increasing temps. Heat rises therefore having a top 120mm fan makes logical sense or whatever u have.Too much false info making me sick today :(

When you get a clue, come back.

OH… I hope you get well soon! (Sarcasm)

Yeah? really now! Glad you told me that man I could have trashed a good case for nothing cutting holes willy nilly everywhere, it now looks like I have wasted a few years fastidiously placing fans throughout my system and now I find out I did it all wrong. So did the top line case manufacture’s too apparently! .j/k

Not for nothing, but I got cooler temperatures with my 2 back fans (80mm) blowing fresh air onto my CPU. Only about a 2C difference, but I still have the rig that way, I suppose it would depend on the orientation of your CPU and Back fan positions, but mine blow fresh air directly over the CPU fan.

I use the Powersupply fan to pull air out, and 1 80mm in the front to cool my HD.

I reckon it would really depend on flow direction and how well your case is buttoned up. Hot air does rise, but as long as it's in a steady flow away from your innards you would be ok.

Yes, all I was trying to say above that it is usually the way and it does work well. However as you know by trying different positions you might just come across a better solution, every case is different.
