I installed printer via 25-pin/9-pin null modem cable to COM1 and used Epson
website drivers. Can see printer as default in >CP>Printers&Faxes. Test
page is sent to printer but no response. Test page disappears from print
queue without user deletion. Have tried this on both XP and W2k boxes and
gotten absolutely no printer response. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.

You did not state whether the dot matrix printer is plugged in to a power
outlet nor if you powered it ON before trying to print to it. The below URL
