Tried the heat pipe?

Has anyone tried the COOLER MASTER HCC-L61-E1 SILENT HEAT PIPE? I'm looking to upgrade to an XP 2200+ and don't want the "biplane in my case" effect. I've read some decent reviews but like to know what actual users think of the HSF. I've had good luck with the PC Power and Cooling silencer fans (have 4 in the case right now) and ps (400w silencer). They're all nearly silent and would love my HSF to be the same. Any help would be great.

Have you seen my will to live? I seem to have lost it.....

They have a new L71 version out, maybe wait for that?

Try searching for a review of their older L61 series through a search engine. My water feels like the L71 and L61 are probably related and if there's a good review for the L61, there's probably good review for the L71.

I got news for you. I'm a mechanical designer. That particular heatpipe is a gimmick, it would work just as well without the pipe in place (as a normal heatsink). But it does have enough SIZE to help cooling.

I wonder what liquid they have in it, and what’s the vaporisation temperature point?

If it was filled with a water based derivative one would have to get that HSF mighty hot for the principle to work as shown. Bit of a gimmick IMO, I would like to see a test with the same heatsink without the heatpipe.

heat pipes work on the principle of evaporation and condensation, which requires a relatively large difference in temperature not present in such a compact design. The condensor would have to be separate from the evaporator for it to work.
