This is the first time I am overclocking a computer. I was wondering how far can I overclock my Athlon XP 1800+ without damaging any of the components in my computer. I have an MSI KT3 Ultra motherboard. Any replies are really appreciated
im pretty sure you can oc it to AXP 2000+. i have the same mobo the MSI KT3 Ultra w/an AXP 1500+ and im able to oc it to AXP 1700+ just by raising the FSB(1.47mhz x 10) and the temp goes 47c(load). just make sure you have good ventilation in your case. BTW im using the stock fan. hope this gives u an idea. oh yeah you should have a good PSU too!

My 1800+ is oc'd to 1667. I believe that is the clock frequency the 2000+ uses. I can get to 1702MHz but I get errors when encoding DivX movies. I'm doing this just by increasing the FSB frequency to 145MHz. Haven't touched the multiplier yet. I'm using the Asus A7v333 mobo, and a Coolermaster Silent Heatpipe HSF. The temperature increase from the oc'ing is negligible.

Well I`ve got my 1700+ (1466mhz) to run @ 1925mhz by unlocking the multiplier to 12.5 and running the fsb @ 154. This is the the highest setting I could get it to while still booting into XP, but I had some data corruption(HD) so I`m currently running it @ 1900mhz (152fsb) and have no problems at all even with my standard Evercool fan. I`ll list the components below. If you are new to overclocking I would strongly sugest u read as many of these forum post as possible and post ANY questions u have. U could do some serious damage to that Athlon and probably the whole system if u are`nt careful.
[EDIT]--Goodluck!
