I can't get the firewall of my Medion MD40900 WLAN router to work.
This is what I do:
I put with "Default policies" "Input", "Output" and "Forward" to
"Discard" instead of the standard "Accept". Now I can't get anay access
to the webinterface of the router. (Luckily you have to confirm within
20 secs or the firewall turns of again.)
It doesn't work. I get "Connecting 192.168.0.100..." for the
webinterface & "Resolving host x.x.x ..." with everything else.
Is the "remote port" the source port or the destination port with
"outbound" and is it the same (or the reverse) with "inbound" and
"forward". It doesn't matter when testing; it's only less secure when
it's the reverse.
Any idea what could be wrong?
For external sites I might need the DNS port (TCP & UDP 53
[in or out?]) butr not for a IP address.
Something else: what is "forward" use for?
Thanks in advance
NdG.
