I recently built a computer using the xp1700 and the soltek sl-75drv5. I was playing around in the bios and saw the anti-burn shield option. Anyways, the ABS temperatures differ from my software temperature monitors by alot. My software reports the temp usually btwn 48-51C after 3+ hours of gaming. I restart immediately and check the ABS temperatures and they usually say btwn 55-60C. Is this normal? If this is normal, which temperature reflects the temp of my cpu most accuratly?

Maybe Soltek increased the temperature reading from their ABS to make sure the system could respond fast enough to an actual overheat emergency. Set the overheat protection to be triggered early enough and you have more time for it to work and a better chance of saving the CPU.

Ok, I checked out solteks website and it says the ABSII temperature represents the core temerature while temperature 1 represents the cpus external temperature. So is 60C core temperatures a normal for Athlon XPs?

Between 55-60 C is normal for the retail athlon coolers (retail athlon HSF). But most people don't like temps getting that high so they aim for 35-45.
