my mobo is an old Intel SE440BX-3. i dont think it has any type of temperature sensors. i really need to know the temperature of my cpu (Powerleap adapter converted from slot1 -> socket 370 with a 1.4ghz celeron tualatin) and my radeon8500le 128mb. i really need to know the temperatures of those 2 pieces, is there a way to get their temperatures? motherboard monitor 5 doesn work, it only displays 0 degrees celcius. i guess its because i dont have sensors...help!

I just read a DIY article on building additional sensors and using the SMBus to relay that info to MBM5. Personally, I am not confident enough in my abilities to even try this. If you have an SMBus connector and are interested in DIY - check out http://www.madhacker.org/mbmsensors.htm

You could use a Digital Doc as sold here: <A HREF="http://www.kdcomputers.com/eui/prime/browse/component/29.htm" target="_new">http://www.kdcomputers.com/eui/prime/browse/component/29.htm</A>

It comes with two types of sensors that should get you the temps you're looking for.

I figure if someone wanted to build these and sell them that I would buy one, but then the DigitalDoc as recommended as bw37 is pretty nice too.

con: giving up a drive bay
pro: hardware based - no more MBM
