Hi, for Christmas I am hoping to get a new everyday desktop, however it's PCI 2.0 so I'll most likely be upgrading that - but my budget isn't good, so what is a GPU I can get that will run Borderlands 1 or 2 at a smooth 60+ fps at medium - high settings.

any gafx card over a gtx 260 will give medium perfomance on borderlands 2 its not at all demanding. i can max it out on my system and stay above 50 fps most of the time...

so nvidia wise 260-295 450-480 540-590 640-690
ati 3870 4850 5670 5750 5830 6850 7750 or better. will all give a minimum of medium settings at 1080p. 30fps or more. oh and dont be fooled by the hype. yeah the game supports physx but it doesnt mean it will play any less well on ati cards. nvidia fanboys would say oh its a game breaker but its not. if physx was that good every game would use it. but as it stands only about 25 games actually use it in any form... compare that with the 300+ that use other software based physics engines.
yes its nice to have but more often than not it creates problems such as polygon deformation and you can have stray pollys that just look like black triangles stretching off to infinity when the engine breaks down...
or my all time faverate turn rag dol on in cod 4 and watch the enemy bounce around like a pinball when you hit em with a nade... turn it off and they slump like a real dead person... yeah physx... who needs it...

I'm running it now on high settings, lower FSAA (due to the 660 Ti card), runs good!

Specs are:
Phenom II X4 955
4 GB ram
Galaxy GForce 660Ti 3GB (although seems the 3gb isn't any better thant he 2gb)
