I have a Soyo dragon MOBO. I tried to pput a new Volcano 7+ on there and it was too big. A capacitor between the dimm slots and the cpu socket was in the way. Just though I'd let everyone know in case they were going to try to buy either.

PS. Anyone want to buy a brand new lapped volcano 7+ for 28.00 +shipping?

Yeah.

You have to really check out the specs on a mainboard before you slap a cooler on it. Especially one like the v7+.

I'd buy it from you, but I already have one. =)

i had that problem once before on an abit mobo, i dont know what kind of cooler it was but it was all copper in a spiral orb design. i just cut a little bit off the heat sink and it fit fine.

I was thinking about doing that too. I have a machine shop at work that could mill the copper off.

A miter saw will do the same thing. A rotozip will too, but you'd have to make sure it's locked down in a vise.

You *could* do it with a skillsaw or a sawzall, but I'd want pictures of it...

heaven knows why motherboard manufacturers cannot follow regulations.
the regs say there is to be a clear area of x * y mm around the socket, yet so many fail.
