Have a similar problem. also HP 930c printer. In my case the printer is
hardwired to a desktop and prints normally. The problem is printing from
the laptop which connects to the system wirelessly. When I try to print I
get a message 'The handle is invalid'.
Both machines are loaded with WINXP Pro SP2 and are fully uptodate with
patches.
This problem appeared suddenly a\nd at the time the last WINXP updates were
loaded, althouygh I am reluctant to attribute the problem to thoses updates.
The laptop and desltop share files and the problem is related only to the
printer.
I have installed and have run Ad-aware Pro, S&D Spybot, CWShredder, NOD32
AVP installed and all are up to date.
I have deleted the drivers and reinstalled. Printer share is enabled. When
'adding printer' from the laptop I can see and select the printer share
name on the desktop but so far I have not been able to solve the problem.

Doesn't help me. The advice is basic my problem is more obscure hence my
'cry' for help.
As a starting point can anyone advise the meaning of the message 'The handle
is invalid' that I receive when I try to print?

"Shot in the twilight" time. ;-)
Peer-to-peer network?
Delete the printer from all machines that share it. Delete the share in
the machine which hosts it. Recreate the share using a name without
spaces and keep it short. Reinstall the printer across the network as
usual.

Thanks Tom I'll give it a try again! As I have tried so many iterations I
can't precisely remember whether I have done exactly as you suggest but
suspect I have.
I have removed all printers and drivers from both the Host and Client
machines, reinstalled the driver (Host machine), tested printing then
enabled share on both machines. Initially (first attempt), I can print from
the Client (laptop), thereafter I get the message 'The handle is invalid'
when printing from Notepad and a longer message to the effect the printer is
not available in Word. What I find puzzling is while the applications won't
print, the applications do in fact see the shared printer.
