We have purchased a Canon LC700 Fax Server. It provides a printer driver
that lets you print from the desktop to the fax server. When doing this the
driver prompts you to enter the name and fax number of the recipient or
select it from an address book. It further provides the option to register
Outlook 2003 contacts.
Let me preface this with the fact that I have looked through this and other
resources extensively, I have my dialing rules setup, and the phone number
entered into the proper format.
Some Outlook entries will have a +1 inserted on to the front of the fax
number when selected. Others do not. I have tried many different
combinations to get this to work. Notably, when a contact that does not
exhibit this problem is edited (fax number that is) in even a small way the
contact will from that point forward have the +1 problem.
Now here is something that I find interesting. If you take a contact that
is exhibiting the +1 problem and click on the “Actionsïƒ New Contact From Same
Company menu item which copies the company (including fax number) from the
current contact to a new contact and save the new contact. This new contact
will NOT have the +1 added when it is selected by the Canon fax driver.
Edit the phone number by say changing just the last digit and nothing else
and then the +1 problem returns.
Canon support says this is an Outlook problem. I wonder what you all think.
