I have an Asus A7V-266-E with bios 1006, I bought the XP unlocking kit from highspeedpc.com and after several attempts to unlock my XP I was not able to. I tried several times, still no success. Then I decided to try my unlocked 1Ghz Duron that is definately unlocked on this MB. The multiplier on another board that I have, the classic A7V works well. I can change from 8X to 12X with no problem at all on this Duron. The Duron does not work on on the A7v-266-e at all, all I get is the fixed multiplier of 10X, going higher or lower the system won't boot at all. At first I had the bios version 1011e then I went to 1005e still with no success.
I am very frustrated right now, the jumper mode does not work either. By the way why does the CPU ratio only end at 10.5X in the jumper mode????

There is a jumper to be set for either Palo or Athlon/Duron, check to be sure it is on the right selection, I had trouble with an AMD Tbird 1.4Ghz on my board with Jumperfree but works just fine with the XP2100+ CPU, I use Bios rev 1010.
10.5 X is the default for the Tbird 1.4Ghz cpu.

It works on a binary system. If you take the leftmost switch as being as the least significant bit you'll see what I mean,
i.e. 0 - off 1 = on

8x = 10101 (reverse these bits) 10101 = 21 decimal
8.5x = 00101 10100 = 20
9x = 11001 10011 = 19
9.5x = 01001 10010 = 18
10x = 10001 10001 = 17
10.5x = 00001 10000 = 16
...so logically (and it does work)
11x = 11110 01111 = 15
11.5x = 01110 01110 = 14
12x = 10110 01101 = 13
12.5x = 00110 01100 = 12
13x = 11010 01011 = 11
13.5x = 01010 01010 = 10
14x = 10010 01001 = 9 etc ....
</font color=green>

Good luck.

Well I did that, no progress, nothing. Now forget about the XP, does the unlocked Duron work on this board with those jumpers set to Athlon/Duron. Well thats what I did......I know for sure that the Duron is unlocked....it works fine on the A7V :mad:

i have a similar problem, i have the asus a7v266 and an amd1600xp AGKGA stepping, i unlocked it like 5 times, checked with multimeter and it should be unlocked, but when i change the muliplier in bios and boot up, it still boots up at default 1400mhz (10.5x133), but when i go back to bios it shows the multiplier i chose earlier, oh, and when selecting a lower multiplier the default (10.5 in this case) it doesn't boot.

thats my L1 bridge, the pits are filled with nail polish which another guide i read uses and it works great, but then i use connductive pen to connect the bridge. after all this, it still doesn't unlock. it just boots at default 10.5 each time.

Asus A7V266 AMD1600xp@1606 (10.5x153)
Stepping: AGKGA
