Sims 3 wont save graphic changing options

Hello,
when i first load up the sims 3 i get a message saying" cant identify hardware" and "video card unrecognized". so i proceed any ways. get into game and in birds eye view all streets and landscapes are black. also when trying to save any changes under the options the only one that saves is the resolution. if any one can help me please do.

Please any reply if you even have close to same problem. This game also works on my five year old laptop. But the install this time was a brand new computer and i believe i updated everything

Hello. I'm sorry to say that I can't help you out but I'm going through almost the exact same situation as well, so I can sympathize with you. The only difference is the computer, and that there black and white flickers.

I hope we both figure out how to fix it.

I know this question is way old, but I had the same problem, and turns out I was trying to run the game without a GraphicsRules.sgr file. I had apparently taken it out when trying out an hq mod and forgotten to put it back in. so go into your installation folder\game\bin and check if GraphicsRules.sgr is in there. if it isn't, you can find it on the internet. hope this'll help other people looking up the same problem!
