i have the asus a7v266 and an amd1600xp AGKGA stepping, i unlocked it like 5 times, checked with multimeter and it should be unlocked, but when i change the muliplier in bios and boot up, it still boots up at default 1400mhz (10.5x133), but when i go back to bios it shows the multiplier i chose earlier, oh, and when selecting a lower multiplier the default (10.5 in this case) it doesn't boot.

thats my L1 bridge, the pits are filled with nail polish which another guide i read uses and it works great, but then i use connductive pen to connect the bridge. after all this, it still doesn't unlock. it just boots at default 10.5 each time.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

maybe you should try something else to connect the l1's?!?!?!? i dont know...
and you might want to tape off everything to make sure there is NO contact between anything...like it looks REALLLY close to that one pin in the next set of bridges.....
how are you "re-doing" this? like, are you scraping everything off?

Strange... it does look ok.

But yes I would try something diffirent... maybe the conductive pen can't make good contact with the bridge pins. And be sure to clean to those pins good with something like rubbing alcohol before reconnecting them.

each time i redo it, i gently scrape the top of the L1 bridge then i use nail polish remover. when the area is completly free of any silver residue even the pits, i start doing it over.

the method i uses to unlock is this one http://www.thenakedreview.com/index.php?p=showvidreview&id=20

as for the pen, its the same one used in the above review, and after i unlock, i check resistance with each connected bridge and the grounding dot and the resistance is like 20-30 on a 1k scale which is very good, its very close to 0.

I'm starting to think there is something wrong with your mobo... can you test it in another one?

I dunno if asus still has dips on that mainboard. Make sure it's on "auto" or something.

Other than that, check that nail polish conductivity.

the mother board jumpers or dips are all set to jumper free so i have control in bios.

as for the conductivity of the nail polish, i checked its non conductive, could it be my stepping or the chip itself? maybe some chips are just unlockable :(

Never heard of unlockable XP's unless the T-bred series... which aren't unlockable if I'm right.

But you can give it a try to increase multiplier by jumper... maybe the BIOS is a little screwed up.

Your using nail polish remover to clean away the stuff each time it doesn't work? I've never heard of that.
First make sure that the L1 Bridge connections aren't connecting to each other and shorting out. Take a sharp razor and gently draw a line between the 5 rows of contacts to make sure that they aren’t shorting out with each other.

Try using the Tom's Hardware video to aid in ur unlocking attempts.
