I just built a PC, it's fantastic, and i'm able to record any game, fullscreen, 1080p, the works, with no lag.
The thing is, FRAPS video files are large. This isn't really a problem, since my 1TB hard drive is still quite empty. Still, I have some questions.
What I want to do is add post commentary to my gameplay footage, but I don't want to have these big files stuck on my HDD until I'm finished. Can I encode the movie (publish the movie in Windows Movie Maker), then simply toy around with the .mp4 that it makes? This is a much smaller file than the original. If so, I can simply take all of the FRAPS movies and start turning them into .mp4 files almost immediately after I make them, then just add my post commentary to that.
I ask this because once I've added post commentary to the .mp4, I'd have to save the movie again. Would this encode it again? Is this a bad thing?
