Hi.

I'm having a problem with Windows XP and printer drivers. I'm using KIX32 to
add printers during user logon. When trying to print Windows complains about
the printer not being installed properly. When viewing properties for the
printer Windows displayes the following error:

"explorer.exe - Function address 0x4f56a0db caused a protection fault.
(exception code 0xc000005) Some or all property pages may not be displayed"

My setup is:
- Windows XP Professional, Danish, Service Pack 1 and 2
- Print servers: Windows Server 2003 Standard, Gold and Service Pack 1
- Latest drivers for HP 4250, 4650, 9050 etc., Danish
- KIX 2010 4.50 for scripting

The only to solve this problem is to remove the printer driver from Windows
XP through Printers, Server Properties, Drivers and install it manually
through "Printers and Faxes" again. This has to be done as an local
administrator.

I've also seen the problem with Kyocera drivers so the problem doesn't seem
to related only to HP drivers.

Does anybody know how to solve this problem and why it happens?

BTW: Is there a way to remove a print driver through scripting? I'm able to
add a driver but haven't found a way to remove one (i'm not in the mood for
removing drivers on 700+ workstations manually :-(

Best regards

Mike

I am experiencing the same problem on Windows XP Pro trying to connect to a
Buffalo Linkstation with an HP Photosmart 7960 USB printer attached.
Anyone have any ideas?
