you all know how the core of a geforce 2/3/4 has that aluminum heatspreader built in, what do you suppose the temp diff would be if it were copper with a copper heatsink on it, from the die to an aluminum heatspreader to a copper heatsink doesnt sound that efficent to me...

I think the weight of copper would warp a Geforce 4. Unless you made the heatsink smaller than the aluminium one but that would defeat the purpose of switching to copper.

I type sixty words per minute. Ten are spelled correctly.

That is a copper heatspreader in the G4 series of cards. If you lap the core flat you will take of the tin coating that makes it look aluminum. Been there and did it myself.

Also the heat spreaders on the P3 tualatin and P4 cores are also copper with a tin covering.

Copper will discolor and corrode over time. So they are tin coated to resist corroding and discoloration.
