Recent Spooler Problems

I have been beset by some recent problems with printing on my notebook
computer, but don't really know what could have caused it. I use wireless
here at the office and at home, and am part of a network here, and print
through my wireless router at home, so maybe there's some conflict or I have
too many printers in my system. (none are Lexmark). I have tried to read some
posts and checked the Internet for assistance as well.

I just tried the cleanspl.exe fix, but that didn't work either. When I
reboot, as well as several subsequent times, the "Spooler SubSystem App has
encountered a problem and needs to close" error box pops up, with the
following details:

szAppName: spoolsv.exe szAppVer: 5.1.2600.2180 szModName: Ntdll.dll
SZModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 offset: 00011ec3

C:\DOCUME~1\DOUGBO~1\LOCALS~1\TEMP\WER8710.DIR00\spoolsv.exe.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\DOUGBO~1\LOCALS~1\TEMP\WER8710.DIR00\appcompat.txt

Anyone have any suggestions? Do I need to still go into the registry and
edit it, even if I tried the cleanspl.exe fix? I got the impression that was
available if you didn't want to mess with the registry. I am using Windows XP
home.

Thanks.

Also, I have tried the "Generic Host PRocess" fix that comes up on the OCA,
as well as updating Windows. I just now went into the Administrative Support
part of the control panel, but the spooler was already started and set to
Auto. From here, I'm stumped.

Thanks in advance to all for your help!

The spooler executable is in the wrong folder - it should be in the
c:\windows\system32 folder. Check the regkey
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler\ImagePath. If it points
to the %TEMP% folder as listed in the error message above, you might
have a trojan or something installed.
