Installed Win WP home on a machine. Downloaded current drivers and
unzipped them on the computer. Plugged in printer and searched for
drivers. Did not auto find them, so I pointed to the driver
directory. The driver info file and the correct DLLs exist, but XP
tells me that it can not find the correct driver information.
Is there any way to determine why XP aborts the process. Eg. does it
leave a log somewhere? Not sure if this is a driver issue or XP!
Thanks
P.S. This same printer and driver file works OK under Win2k!

Did your Canon printer come with an installation CD? DO NOT plug the
printer in to the PC. Unplug it and uninstall it in the Control Panel.
Reboot.
Insert the installation CD and follow the prompts and during the installation
it will tell you WHEN to plug it in. Post back if it did not work or you have
other problems. If the drivers on the CD are not compatible with XP it will
tell you and ask you if you want to search for compatible drivers. You
already have them downloaded, I guess.
