Jakobs often manufactures weapon with high damage, most notably snipers and old-time Western revolvers. They tend to have a higher recoil rate than most other manufacturers, but they almost always fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. You can either unload a clip in a second, or focus your fire on critical spots for massive damage.

I'm a bit surprised this poll isn't pulling in more votes to be honest... that said, it is a new game so maybe people just aren't voting because they haven't yet played it (or at least not played far enough to develop a preference). It's hopefully only people who have played who are voting!
mine is between jakobs and maliwan, chose maliwan due to the added effect damage on most weapons
All weapons actually! There are no non-elemental Maliwan guns. By the way, the poll is set up so you can choose two if you have a couple tied for favourite.
darn, haha, well i had no idea, (of either of what you meantioned) only been playing the game a bit
Well Maliwan were all about elemental damage in Borderlands 1 and they're the only weapons manufacturer that hasn't really changed at all in Borderlands 2. Their 'submalevolent grace' SMGs are pretty cool in the early stages, but then SMGs start to fall behind a bit in general as the other gun categories pull ahead. Hyperion and Dahl become more awesome when you get into the game a bit, and Vladof and Jakobs are awesome right through ;-)
I'm surprised nobody like bandits... shooting for ages before having to reload is awesome! That said, I'd only ever use them for shotguns and launchers.
