I am looking for the best 80mm fan in the 3,000 RPM range to use on a Thermalright SK-7 or SLK-800. Which ones do you suggest?

By learning the teachings of Zerthimon I have become stronger.

They are all pretty much the same, give or take a decibel or cfm. :smile:
Faster = better = louder.

Panflo, sunon, delta, pabst, evercool, thermaltake and enermax all make good fans, its just a matter of
chooseing the speed noise level and features.

For example, pabst and panflo specialise in making balanced quiet fans, so they may be slightly better. Enermax and Thermaltake make adjustable fans, a good invention that lets you control the speed & noise.
Possibly the best looking fan is the evercool aluminium fan. All aluminium frame with silver colour blades. VERY spiffy.

The best fan still going is the Thermaltake Smart Fan II. It is scaleable. If you were looking for throughput, CFM, it wins hands down for a 80mm fan.

Your best bet is to get an 80mm that has a higher CFM and speed. Yes it wil have a higher dBA rating but you can control that by scaling the fan down using a rheostat.

That is the best you can do. You want a fan that has a high output along the whole CFM/RPM curve. If you ned elp picking out the exact fan I can help.

Sanyo-Denki, Delta, Panasonic (Panaflo), Papst, Oriental Motors (Orix), etc. all make good fans, you just need one to fit what you are doing.

It's probably best to get a Thermaltake Variable II fan or a Enermax Variable speed fan. This way you dont have to get a new fan if you want something quieter.
