Help! PS2 slim Disc not spinning

Iv had my PS2 for ages (7-8 years now) and have never had any problems with it, so I felt like taking a step back and play some tekken 5 and when I booted up my PS2 it would just take to the browsing screen and I took a look and found out that the disc was not spinning. Everything was closed and disc was clean and there was little dust inside but still nothing. I really dont feel like parting with it since Iv had it for so long and was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix the problem. The last time I played was about 3 or 4 months ago and there were no problems then and it has not been touched since, plus my PS2 has been through a lot worse before e.g drops, 30 hours non stop running, having cornflakes spilt on it (dont ask) and it never once stopped working

All electronics fail with age. You can check out some youtube videos on how to replace the optical drive, but these days you can pick up a refurbished ps2 on the cheap from places like gamestop.
