What is the "normal temperature" (no overclocking) for P4 2.4 (in SETUP-BIOS). I get 52 C Idl - MSI 648 Max and Vulcano 7. Is it too much or not?

Thank everybody.

well it depends on your ambient (room) temperature and the system temperature.
what is the system temperature?

are you sure the fan is turned all the way up?
but 52 in bios is a little on the high side....did you use thermal paste (arctic silver 2/3??)

That's WAY too hot.. you've either got a very very high ambient temp or did something wrong.

A friend's 2.4B system runs at 31C idle, that's more around average.

yes paper is actually quite thick ! The layer should only be to make the tow surfaces flush ie. fill the tiny pits and groves on either surface... it needs to be just thick as to stop you being able to see the surface of the processor, and with careful application this can be excessivly thin !

ps: the last PIV 2.4 system I put together was reporting CPU temps of 28-34 depending on ambient room temp and system load ! Case temps were 25-29.
