Games that take advantage of our processing power

Right now, I have a PC that I built less than a year ago. I want to have a reason to upgrade it, since I'm a huge enthusiast, however, I cannot find any good reason to do so.

My Specs are:
6950 1GB Unlocked
Core i5-2500k @ stock (I will buy a cooling system for Christmas)
16 GB DDR3 1600
750 GB HDD
128 GB SDD

There are just no reasons to upgrade though, and so far there are no games taking advantage of the extra power my machine offers. Does anyone else feel the same way, or think that there needs to be more games taking advantage of that extra power? Why are we in this situation?

... I have two 7970s and an i7 @ 4.5GHz and games like bf3 definitely eat that up. 60-80% usage on GPUs and uses just about all of that CPU as well (bc it takes a lot to send that much data to two cards). So no I can't say I agree with you in general. But certainly there are games with very ****** optimization that don't use all of your system (looking at you Bethesda).

The problem with Battlefield 3 was the AA for me. Otherwise, at 1920x1080 with no AA (or just post AA), the game runs fine at above 30 fps.

Exactly...and I guarantee your GPU is pinned at 100% usage the whole time. So it is definitely using all the power your system has..

Maybe I'm not understanding what you mean by this lol

If you are ok with 30 FPS, more power to you, but for myself, 30 FPS will make me sick within a few minutes of playing. Most people find 60+ FPS makes games a LOT smoother and more responsive.

If you just want to find an upgrade, you could consider a monitor upgrade. What are you using now? 3D or high resolution monitors can be very nice.
