Processor cooling concern

Hello. I just ordered a new system and it is going to come with a Thermaltake Volcano 6CU+ on an Athlon XP 2400+, and it has come to my attention that this fan might not be good enough for the 2400+?

Should I spring for a better fan? Or will the Volcano 6 do? Seems to me like the guy would recommend a better fan if it was necessary; it would benefit him since I'd be spending more money. BTW, I don't plan on overclocking.

Just get the stock cooler!
Dont bother with the 6cu+. If i remember correctly its a noisy little ah heck.

Or if you want something fancy with a variable speed fan, try a Volcano9.

Yes its fine. But so is the stock cooler. The stock cooler really should be a Talsoi, not a volcano...

Well, I ordered my system from bcd2000.com and the default fan they had was the 6cu+. They had other fans for more money, but I just figured that one would be okay. Since the only fans they had in the list were Volcanoes, I didn't know I could ask for a stock cooler.

Stock cooler comes in retail package and no cooler comes in OEM package. The new Athlons stock coolers have thin fins like the skived ones (Dynatron, cooljag, etc) and the cooler I think it is the Top Motor 25CFM.
If u are not going to overclock use stock. If your temps get more than 60C i recommend buying new HSF.
Forget the volcano 6 it is only for 2100+ und down.

According to the manufacturer's website (http://www.thermaltake.com/products/heatsink/v6plus.htm) the 6cu+ is qualified for AXP up to 2700+. But if my system comes with the 6cu+, I'm assuming they're not going to give me the stock cooler. Like I said, the only fans they offered were Volcanoes. I've been asking around and most people say the 6cu+ will be fine for my 2400+, the only issue is the noise. So I'll see how loud it is before I decide whether or not I should get a different HSF. BTW, this is probably a stupid question, but how do I access my BIOS? That's where you monitor temps, right?

If the only fans offered are the Volcanos I recommend the Volcano 9. The 6cu+ have a 7000rpm everflow fan which is noisy. You can access the BIOS pressing DELETE key when your system is booting (showing the speed of the processor, amount of memory, etc)

Well in that case I should have asked the question before ordering the computer; it's already built and shipped a few days ago =) I'll see how it goes. Thanks to everyone for their input.

Not usually i dont think...
Coolermaster, Talsio.. Both these brands have been the supplier of "stock" coolers, depending on speed grade.
