Volcano 9 is alright, but it's not the best tho.
On my 2700 I use the Thermalright SLK-800 for heatsink which is the best and I put the Smartfan II (same as V-9) on there so I have some sorta auto control.
Vantec makes really good fans, if you are looking into heavy O/C then get the Tornado, but be warned, it's like a hairdryer going through your system; if you are looking into small O/C and you want it silent, then get the Vantec Stealth.
<A HREF="http://www.svcompucycle.com" target="_new">SVC</A> and <A HREF="http://heatsinkfactory.com/cgi-bin/HFAstore.pl" target="_new">HeatsinkFactory</A> are pretty much the best prices around.

edit: if price is an issue then look on <A HREF="http://www.thermalright.com/price.html" target="_new">Thermalright</A> and see what you like, the AX-7 and SK-7 are on the same price range as the V-9, but better.<P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1><EM>Edited by king_yip on 12/12/02 12:08 PM.</EM></FONT></P>

That depends what you really want/need.

Are you looking for the HSF that provides good overclocking at a low noise level, or something that provides the best cooling, regardless of noise or price.

Some better options than the volcano9 include:
Volcano 7+ with variable speed fan
SK-800 with a high speed or variable speed fan
MCX-462U with the same.
