Hi all,
The newspaper I read online has a nasty habit of spraying ads all over
the place. The most annoying ones come from a particular adserver. In
Tiny Personal Firewall 2.0 it was easy to prevent the browser (Firefox
in my case) from communicating with that particular IP.
Result: Works like a charm, page loads in a jiffy without ads.
Now in version 5.5 it has gotten quite a bit more confusing, but I
figured it out (I thought): Created a high priority rule to prevent
Firefox from communicating with a particular ip.
Result: Works, page loads without ads, but only after about a minute
with a 'Timed out while contacting [address]' message on top. The
address that times out is the one I've created a rule against.
Is there a way to fix this to restore the smooth behaviour of TPF 2 ?
(And I don't mean reverting to it ..)

This is a bit of a hack, but it does the same thing and doesn't need any
haordware. Open the hosts file for the browser amd map any unwanted sites
to localhost, something like
127.0.0.1 doubleclick.com
Since you box isn't hosting doubleclick, this will fail quickly and you will
load your page without any ads from doubleclick (for example).
