First, I got the Thermalright AX-478 yesterday and should arrive soon. I was debating between Volcano 7+ and this but since the AX was much easier to install I got that (also got a quad blue/red LED 80mm 32cfm with it). I am not going to overclock much, max i am going to OC is 3 GHz with my 2.66 proccessor, and will only do that in 5-6 months anyways.

Another thing is, can I use anything else besides thermal paste? I am really bad at installing it and afraid that since I prolly wont apply it correctly, my comp will fry lol. Can I use thermal pads or something? Hope I get a reply soon, thanks.

As its the 478 i assume you have a P4, thus you shouldnt have to worry about burning out your cpu.

And whats so hard about thermal paste? Just smear a thin even layer over the top of the cpu where the heatsink will contact it.
You could use a thermal pad, but they arent as good at transferring heat.
