Well,I found there's no way out from VS' area, except a
locked door.Searching the net I found nothing about it.
Is there a key for it and if yes where do I find it or do I
need a rogue?

You need a rogue.  Or some creativity...

Pleeeease.  =)
Only solution I can think of atm is that the door can only
be opened from the side when you enter the area, which
wouldnt be that great of help.

Like I said, "or" some creativity.  It's a pit, with a ledge around the
outside.  Flux/knockbacks, creative levitation tricks, creative use of
illusions, etc., will all get you out.

If you lack creativity, bring a rogue.  =)

I *think* you can duck/unduck your way through that door if I remember
correctly.

Well, hard to do when the group standing in the pit is made of
Ranger,Pally,Monk.  =)
And I doubt all these old "flux/knockbacks, creative levitation
tricks, creative use of illusions, etc" still works.
I failed 2 times the last months with different raids to bypass
the locked doors in CoM towers, saw casters trying everything
and it didnt work.

As a monk that packs a cleric 2-box, I sympathize.  =)

They worked in 2000 the first time I made use of them, and wiped to VS with
a raid force of 50+ people.  They worked in 2005 the last time I made use of
them, and beat VS with my 2-box cleric, me tanking, a rogue and a druid.  At
least the ones I use (I never got to play with flux/knockback myself, so I
had to be even more creative).  So I know it's still possible.
Coincidentally, I was playing a magician back then, my monk having just
gotten started, so this isn't anything monk specific.

The tricks in CoM are harder to pull off, and in my experience very machine
dependent.  A fast computer is a necessity, otherwise you "drift" too much
in your flight.  There was one common "trick" in Howling Stones to get to
east wing faster that utterly defeated me for that very reason for a long
time even though I saw other people pull it off.

Yup. Levitate fall rate is tied to system speed. Faster machines fall
slower.

I don't exactly know what was required for the HS one, I never had trouble
doing it, even with my p3-800 system with an MX-400 video card (running
with all options on, 1280x1024, post Luclin), whereas other folks with far
better systems could not make it.

Which does not explain how I was always able to pull it off on my old
machine when other people with far superior machines could not.

Well, while normally I would agree that having a slower system makes you
fall faster, I've noticed some anomalies in this regard.  My laptop, by
definition a lesser machine even if it were identical to my desktop, can lev
and run and never lose altitude.  Ever.  Why?  Hell if I know.  =)

because it's lighter
