Until today, I was using a 15-inch monitor that was at least 7 years old. It was the last remaining part of my old system. All been replaced now.
I'm loving it.
The 17-inch monitor was a freebie

I went from an 8" b/w to a 14" color to a 19" that I'm using now.

Next stop...24" Trinitron when I have the $2000 handy (not anytime soon).

It's amazing what an extra 2 inches could do to improve your viewing pleasure ^_^

Although if you measure it for real, you lose a over an inch... Must be men who measured these monitor at the factory ^_^

Yes but most 17" diagonal screens only have a viewable area of about 16".

I aint signing nothing!!!

Reply to Rick_Criswell

Is that why the image quality often sucks on lcd's

A nice screen is the best part of any computer. It can last through 5 entire computer upgrades/replacments.

Next stop for me is a 19" LCD I think.

Some day I'll be rich and famous for inventing a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet.

My 17" CRT monitor is in it's 6th year of use, and it's still fine.

Granted the specs will be down on today's ones, but that's to be expected.

Hoping for an Iiyama 19" 454 Pro next. They have a great refresh rate.

Indeed but that is normal for CRT monitors... 16" viewing area, 17" cathode tube (the entire glassy thing).

Good industry term that..."the entire glassy thing".

Keyboard:- The thing you thump.

Speakers:- The noisy things.

LOL... well I would call it a 'beeldbuis' in Dutch, but I don't know what the right English term if for it.

Yep... while it is an old monitor, they didnt skimp on the dimensions, as its a full 16" viewable diagonal, unlike the 15.9 or 15.5's they had around at that time.

Yeah, you're right. I'd need to chop off at least 5" to make it a 17".
