ABIT BE7 / P42.0Ghz / 256MB PC2700
Hi I am new to this board and I am thinking about buying an Abit BE7 Mobo with a P4 2.0ghz and 256mb PC2700 Ram. What would be a stable speed to overclock this too and what settings would I need to adjust to do so (ie. voltage, fsb). Any input is appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks Crash for the quick response. Will I have to adjust the Memory voltage any or can I leave that alone. Would you suggest that I make any changes to this combo (ie. get the Asus P4PE, or another type of cpu). I have been out of the game for a while and I am just trying to relearn all the new technology. I am still running a PIICeleron 333mhz o/c to 400mhz....thats how old my system is at home.
Well, your chances of reaching a 133MHz bus (Intel's "533" bus which is 133MHz QDR) would be a bit better with the 1.8A than the 2.0A, but that gives you 2400MHz instead of 2666MHz. You could easily run your memory at DDR266 or DDR333 using that bus speed. Those are both good boards so it's really a matter of preference. I'd probably go with the P4PE and DDR400 (PC3200) underclocked to DDR354 on that board. You can read more about this board and that odd memory speed HERE
