ADSL microfilter

You need to filter the phones, not the ADSL. Each ren device (ringing device) on the line with ADSL will need a filter. There are master socket plates available for the filtering, to save having one filter for each device.

Are you UK based?

ok - I presently have incoming line in 1 end of the filter and at the other end ADSL (going to the pc) and phone line. Do I still need an additional socket plate?
Yes - in the uk also,
Cheers

No. The socket plate is an 'instead of' option. It provides filtering at the socket, allowing you to connect all phone through it, filtered and running fine.

If you go for the ad-on filters, you need one for each ringing device. Remember the ADSL is fine with or without filters. The phones need the filters as they use a certain frequency on the line.

So you have both the phone's cable and the RJ-11 (PC) cable both coming out of your filter? It should work. Perhaps a bad filter. Just the one phone on the line or others? Wired bells count as ren devices too BTW.

I suggest you check out this site for more info. Check the FAQ section, and search the forum boards. Post there if you like. There's an extemely helpful mod there called Mr Saffron. What he don't know, you don't care about.

Did some searching for ya.

This suggests that your filter may be duff, or you have exceeded the ren allotment on your line. 4 ren is standard. 4 bells or phones etc. Like I said earlier, this may be the case, but it's not for certain.

Look here for filter splitter options. One is the master socket plate (you need to have a master plate with a split 2/3 of the way down it for it to be the correct type), and the other is a simple plug in for the phone socket (single phone socket).
